6:45 AM (Wave 1 start)
The Maumelle Sprint Triathlon takes advantage of one of the metro's best natural settings — a 400-meter open water swim in the clear waters near Maumelle Community Park, a 12-mile bike leg along the river corridor and through Maumelle's parkway system, and a 5K run finish through the park grounds. The sprint distance makes it accessible for first-time triathletes while remaining competitive enough to attract experienced multi-sport athletes. Wave starts are organized by age group, keeping congestion manageable through transitions. Transition area opens at 5:30 AM. Volunteers are plentiful and well-organized, and the finish line atmosphere on a June morning in Maumelle is genuinely enjoyable — families, spectators, and finishers in the park with the river behind them. June water temperatures are typically ideal for open water swimming in this stretch of the Arkansas River corridor.
